No matter where your adventure takes you, have confidence that your essential gear is powered for action.This ultimately comes down to your charger because AGM and lithium batteries operate on different charging cycles and have different chemistries. Lithium batteries are lighter, more efficient and have a longer lifespan, but requires more precise charging to avoid overcharging damage and avoid potential safety issues.
You will need to check your existing chargers and equipment manuals for support of lithium batteries before buying and swapping the AGM batteries with lithium batteries. The equipment you should check for lithium support may include but not limited to: your DC-DC charger, solar charge controller, and 240v charger.There are 2 main methods for restarting a lithium battery that was run flat. The 1st method is the simplest and needs only a lithium compatible 240v charger with a ‘power supply’ mode to wake the battery up and continue charging it. Connect the battery to the 240v charger with the mode set to ‘power supply’ and then let it charge.
The 2nd method can restart a flat lithium battery without a 240v charger; instead requiring:
– Another 12v battery with similar voltage and capacity as your Custom Lithium battery.
– Jumper leads with positive and negative clamps.
– A vehicle or power source with a DC-DC charger.
The steps are as follows:
1. Position the two batteries next to each other, ensuring that the positive and negative terminals of each battery are not touching.
2. Connect the positive clamp of the jumper leads to the positive terminal of both batteries.
3. Connect the negative clamp of the jumper leads to the negative terminal of both battery.
4. Turn on the vehicle or power source with the DCDC charger to start charging your battery.
5. Once you’ve confirmed the DCDC is charging, please disconnect the the jumper leads starting with the negative.
If you have left your battery in a discharged state for a period of time and this process is unsuccessful, you will need to send it back to Custom Lithium for service.
It is highly recommended to charge the battery to it’s full capacity after a flat reset.All the DC-DC chargers we offer are fully compatible with our Custom Lithium batteries. Some chargers come with MPPT solar regulators built-in, while others are solely DC-DC chargers.
The choice between smaller and larger models of DCDC chargers depends on the desired charging speed. For larger batteries, we recommend selecting a larger DC-DC charger to recharge the battery more efficiently.
All of our Custom Lithium batteries, including our smaller sizes, are capable of using a powerful 40A charger. Using a smaller DCDC charger like a 25A or 30A also works but it will take longer for your battery to charge.
If you are purchasing a charger from a 3rd party, or using an existing one then ensure the lithium DCDC charger supports settings of 13.5 volts absorption/float charge, and a bulk charge of 14.2 volts.

Our shipping insurance applies to approved shipping methods only, we encourage you to purchase additional shipping cover which is charged at 2.5% of the total cost of goods. This additional cover option secures a priority rebuild & express shipping of your order in the event of a shipping loss. By selecting this option, you are ensuring the goods are fully covered during transit and that Custom Lithium will fully cover the shipping and cost of repair or replacement of goods.
If this option is not selected, JT 12 Volt is not liable for the delivery and state of goods as delivery is completed by third-party providers.
If there is an issue with your delivery or you suspect damage based on the state of the packaging, please take photos and DO NOT ACCEPT OR SIGN for the delivery of the items.
